Runflat Tyres :
Do I have to run Runflat tyres on my new E90? They’re so expensive and I find: they do not handle well on corners, the ride is rough and hard and above all they are incredibly noisy ?
Answer :
No, you do not have to use Runflats. The advantage of Runflats is, above anything else, the fact that you do not have to change your tyre immediately if you have a blow-out and this addresses a big concern, especially for women, if they find themselves in a bad neighbourhood or on a freeway in the middle of the night with a flat.
However, if you are comfortable with the prospect of changing your tyre should you get a flat, then by all means Runflats are not essential.
In my case, I simply carry a spare in my boot and also advise customers of a small repair kit made and sold by BMW dealerships.
Non-runflat tyres will not have any kind of negative impact on a car sold with runflats on.
In fact, many of my customers are grateful once they change to ordinary tyres as they save a lot of money.
